Being ‘Ready’

Sometimes it can be frustrating to make photographs, and this can be attributed to the simple fact that timing is important. Sometimes the only difference between a great image and a meaningless one is a matter of seconds. Some of the greatest photographs of all time were taken, because the people behind the image were ready in a moment. Its this kind of opportunism and quick reaction that I as a developing photographer am always keen to hone. Walking into my room this evening the sky outside of my window immediately grasped my attention, and I knew that I only had moments to react if I wanted the picture. In this happy instance I did so, and am pleased with the shot.
